We love our kids and enjoy the opportunity to assist in their spiritual formation. The privilege of joining with all our parents in the spiritual development of their children is an honor. We are meant to live, learn, and lean into community together as we all grow in the Spirit’s work.
Classrooms are provided through age 11. 0-4 year olds are in class during the entirety of the gathering, while the 5-11 year old will return to worship with the adults at The Peace (before Communion). Children 12 and older are encouraged to join Luminous Students class at 10AM downstairs.
Our philosophy is to partner with parents and families in the ongoing formative integration and inclusion of children. We believe they are a part of the Church now as well as the future.
An Invitation to Parents
-
Take a deep breath, relax! Children are welcome as they are. They are not distractions or interruptions.
-
If your children are with you in the mass, sit toward the front where it is easier for your little one to see and hear what’s happening.
-
Feel free to quietly explain what we are doing with the liturgy.
-
Children learn best by practice and imitation, so participate: sing, pray aloud, and voice the call & responses.
-
If you have to leave with your child, feel free, and feel to come back in when you can.
-
We believe that our children are a part of parish life. We welcome the whole family.

Objectives
Learn the Story
Learn the basic contours of Bible Stories through engaging liturgical rhythms.
Engage with God
Learn to engage with God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit through listening, prayer, and song.
Interact
Learn to interact with creation and one another with respect, compassion, and love.
We curate our Sunday class curriculum based on the lectionary calendar (Advent through Ordinary Time), as we feel it is important for children and their parents to learn the same stories each Sunday. We hope that this takes what families learn during Eucharist beyond Sunday mornings!
We set aside one Sunday per month as a “Family Sunday” where your child will worship with you in the chapel the whole service (Kindergarten and older). This not only gives our teachers & volunteers a well-deserved break, but we hope that this provides a time for our families to worship together.
We love our teachers/assistants and are grateful for the time and effort they pour into our children and families. They are dedicated and trained in caring for our children and teaching them about the love of Jesus.
We hope to see you on an upcoming Sunday. If you have questions, please email us at kids@luminousanglican.com.
